C.K Beckett can confirm after 10 years of being a proud Club Partner at Barnsley Football Club, next season they will not be the Club’s Principal Sponsor and have their logo emblazoned on the front of the first team home and away shirts.
The Beckett brothers, Kev and Chris agreed to sponsor the Reds way back in the 2008/09 season for the visit to Wembley in the FA Cup Semi Final against Cardiff City. Since then and for the last 10 years, they continued to support the Club through thick and thin by sponsoring the front of the shirt for the last eight seasons, the South Stand (Ponty End) and Family Stand as well as countless matchday sponsorship packages.
When the company signed their last contract in March of 2017, shortly before the sad and sudden death of Kevin, they knew this would take their support to beyond the 10-year mark and so become the longest running consecutive shirt sponsor at Oakwell, passing that of ORA who did six successive seasons back in the 1990’s.
“We have had a fantastic time in the 10 years supporting the Club including two promotions, four Wembley visits all with our company name on show.
This is something we are all very proud of and we will continue to support the Reds going forward in different ways.
“I would like to thank the Club for all its support in making us feel welcome and I wish them all the best for the forthcoming season back in the Championship, but it will seem weird seeing another company on the shirt front!”
The company will continue to support the Club in various ways and also local community projects in the future and we look forward to seeing them back here at Oakwell in August as the Reds kick off their Sky Bet Championship campaign.
Everyone at Barnsley Football Club thanks the Becketts for their outstanding backing, both as commercial partners and as people. Always welcome at Oakwell, this might be the end of an era but it’s not the end of our long-term friendship.
