PREVIEW: Bochum Vs Barnsley

The Reds are back in action on Wednesday evening

17 July 2019

Pre-season friendly number three is upon us, as the Reds take on German Bundesliga 2 outfit VFL Bochum on Wednesday night.

After already spending a week out in the south of France to prepare for the new season, Daniel Stendel and the Reds squad this week arrived in the Head Coach's homeland, where Barnsley face Bochum on Wednesday night, before rounding off their overseas training camps with another fixture against Arminia Bielefeld.

There are currently no major injury issues in Stendel's group, and this match is another opportunity to give most of the travelling group some valuable minutes.

Cauley Woodrow has been in red-hot form so far in pre-season, with a brace in the opening game against Stalybridge and then a hat-trick in France against Toulon.

There have been good reviews for youngsters such as Aiden Marsh and Jasper Moon, and they'll be hoping to keep on impressing the Head Coach whilst in Germany.

Our hosts this evening, Bochum are currently playing in the second tier of the Bundesliga, where they finished last season in 11th position. Coached by Robin Dutt - once of Werder Bremen - Die Unabsteigbaren averaged around 17,000 supporters at their Vonovia-Ruhrstadion, but for this fixture it will be played at the EVONIK Sportpark.
