Barnsley Football Club can confirm that five players have signed contract extensions with our U23s side.

Jordan Barnett and Sam Fielding – regulars in Martin Devaney's side last season – are joined by Harry Gagen, Jasper Moon and Tommy Willard, who have made the step up from U18s football ahead of the 2019/20 Professional Development League campaign.

Between them, defenders Barnett and Fielding featured 48 times and scored six goals as our U23s ended the previous season in seventh place.

Moon, who is currently with the first team in Nice, was frequently utilised by Devaney as he made 15 appearances, while Willard played nine times – eight as a substitute – and scored a fabulous goal in the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Sheffield United in November.

After a number of impressive performances for the U18s, versatile defender Gagen featured in the last three games for Devaney and helped the side keep two clean sheets.

In addition, we are delighted to announce that Chris Sang, Keaton Ward and Alex Wollerton have joined the club following successful trial spells.

Striker Sang, who has previously played for Bury in the Football League, was on target for the U23s in the 4-0 demolition of Colchester United back in March.

Ward and fellow central midfielder Wollerton arrive at Oakwell from Mansfield Town and Leeds United, respectively.
