Stendel: "After the first goal, we were in complete control."

13 January 2019

Following another sublime Reds performance in Sky Bet League One, Daniel Stendel spoke to the gathered press to describe the latest three-point haul.

The Reds were on form yesterday and comfortable winners against Bradford City in the Yorkshire derby.

Goals from Jacob Brown, Kieffer Moore and Alex Mowatt saw Barnsley to another home success.

Naturally, after a terrific victory against a Yorkshire rival, Reds Head Coach, Daniel Stendel was delighted to see his side perform to the level he expects.

“I am very satisfied with the performance," Stendel stated, post-match.

"Bradford, they did not have a chance to score and we had lots of chances to score.

“In the first 20 minutes of the game, Bradford were very attacking, but without making chances really and they had a bit of passion. After the last few weeks with only games against teams at the top of the table, it was expected by all that we win this game.

“At the start, we weren’t 100 per cent on the pitch. After the first goal we lifted our game and we were in complete control after.

"I'm very happy with our defence today. It’s not easy when everybody thinks you will win a game, but our defence was so concentrated which is very important for us.

“The first goal was a goal like we planned before the game. We wanted to get the ball out to the wing and get crosses in. The second goal was, how we'd say in Germany, 'the goal of the month'.

“Our fans go home with a smile today.”
