Following on from the popularity of the event last season, Barnsley Football Club are delighted to announce plans for Saturday’s Military Day.
To help our services raise awareness of the honourable work that they do, Barnsley FC have scheduled engaging, military-themed activities that Reds fans can take part in as part of ‘Military Day’ on Saturday 12 January, when Barnsley host Bradford City in an all Yorkshire Sky Bet League One clash.
Whilst raising the profile of recruitment drives is crucial, hosting an event like this gives fans and communities alike the chance to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community; from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
In advance of Military Day, all military groups/personnel of a Reds or indeed Bradford persuasion are also invited to submit photos for use in a special picture board slideshow throughout the afternoon.
Send your photos to firstname.lastname@example.org.
From 1pm on Saturday afternoon, the free external activities which are listed below, will be set up and ready for visitors to enjoy and participate with.
- Paintball Range*
- Static Vehicle*
- Sea Cadets Military Band** (performing from 2pm)
- Recruitment Station***
The military theme will then continue into Oakwell itself! Prior to kick off, our visiting Barnsley Sea Cadets will perform live, providing an alternative offering to the normal matchday soundtrack.
Following the musical performance, cadets and soldiers alike will form a ‘Guard of Honour’ whilst representatives from our services will accompany the match officials on to the pitch.
