The Reds welcome Rochdale to Oakwell this weekend for the latest Sky Bet League One clash and we've got it covered here, with our big match preview.
Following last weekend's latest big victory in the capital where Daniel Stendel's young side thumped AFC Wimbledon 4-1 at Kingsmeadow, the Reds' Head Coach and his players return to Oakwell on Saturday, visited by struggling Rochdale and former Barnsley manager Keith Hill.
The victory achieved in Kingston upon Thames extended the Reds' unbeaten run to seven games, with five victories included, conceding just three goals along the way.
With only Mike Bähre doubtful in terms of fitness and injury, Stendel will have plenty of options open to him when selecting his matchday squad.
Visitors Rochdale head to South Yorkshire having last week ended their own run of poor form which had seen them drop down the table like a stone recently.
Their 1-1 draw against Fleetwood Town saw a run of four consecutive defeats come to an end, to ease the pressure on Hill and his own young squad.
Coming into this clash, the clubs are separated by 21 points.
With Barnsley sitting fifth in the division on 52 points so far, Dale are 20th, their 31 points seeing them just one point and place above the League One drop-zone.
It's been a tough season for Rochdale so far but as ever since joining the club, Ian Henderson remains a key figure. He has already plundered 14 goals this season whilst being responsible for five assists.
Rochdale have a number of former Reds players in their ranks. Defender Jimmy McNulty spent three years at Oakwell making 61 appearances; Matty Done made 47 appearances for Barnsley between 2011 and 2013 and this week, Dale added Ryan McLaughlin to the squad. The former Blackpool man spent three months on-loan at Oakwell playing nine times during the 2013/14 campaign whilst on the books of Liverpool.
As well as the ex-Reds on show for Dale, as mentioned earlier, it's another Oakwell return for Keith Hill.
The Bolton-born manager spent 18 months as Barnsley manager, taking the reins in the summer of 2011 and after initial success, with his new side hovering around the top six after four months of his first campaign in charge, the loss of players to other clubs and injuries saw Barnsley's form tail off and Hill never managed to quite win over the supporters at Oakwell, ultimately seeing his tenure ended in December of 2012 with the Reds bottom of the Championship.
Since returning for a second spell as manager at Rochdale, he's again led the club to promotion and helped establish Dale as a solid third tier outfit. But after a real battle to survive last term, this season too looks like it could go right to the wire for the Spotland-based club in terms of achieving third-tier safety.
During midweek, one of the Reds' latest recruits, Jordan Green sat down with the press to talk about his arrival and to preview Saturday's clash.
Daniel Stendel was also in attendance, and you can watch the videos of both press conferences right now over on iFollow Barnsley.
The two sides met early season at Spotland and it was Stendel's men who left Rochdale with all three points that evening. A 4-0 thrashing of the home side, with Kieffer Moore grabbing a hat-trick whilst also assisting Brad Potts' first half opener.
In terms of the last Oakwell meeting you have to rewind to the infamous 2015/16 campaign and a 6-1 demolition for the Reds, then managed by Lee Johnson, with another hat-trick hero on that afternoon, Sam Winnall grabbing three goals in a season that eventually saw Barnsley promoted.
The clubs first locked horns way back in December of 1932, with the Reds edging out the hosts 3-2 and there have been 45 meetings overall; Barnsley with 25 victories to Rochdale's 11.
Tickets for the match remain available to purchase in advance from the Reds Superstore until 5pm on Friday 25th January, and until 11:59pm online.
You will be able to get tickets on the day of the game, but please be aware that there is a £2 increase whilst Juvenile tickets are not available at the turnstiles, you'd need to go to the Oakwell Box Office before kick-off.
