Dale Tonge Appointed Assistant Coach

7 February 2019

Tonge to remain in role until end of the season.

Barnsley Football Club can confirm that 33-year-old Dale Tonge will remain as Assistant Coach to Daniel Stendel until the end of the 2018/19 Sky Bet League One campaign, alongside fellow Assistant Chris Stern.

Tonge stepped up from his role as Lead Youth Development Phase Coach after Andreas Winkler departed the club to join Premier League, Huddersfield Town.

'Tongie', as he’s known to most, has assisted Stendel for three matches, helping the Reds towards two wins and a draw, resulting in the rise into second place in the league.

Daniel Stendel told barnsleyfc.co.uk he was pleased with the progress Tonge has made whilst working alongside him: “Tongie has been very good for us. He knows the players, he knows the staff and more importantly he knows the football we want to play, he has been a very popular addition to our coaching team. I said when he joined us that he is part of the identity of the club, this is important to us, we want that knowledge. We know what the goal is this season and that is something he has achieved before at Barnsley, we are now all focused and working together towards this.”

Full interviews with Daniel Stendel and Dale Tonge will be available to view on iFollow Barnsley.
