Goal of the Month | November

5 December 2019

With some excellent performances and hard-earned, valuable points gained in the month of November, Barnsley showed the Midas touch in the final third by scoring nine goals.

We picked out eight of them for you to vote as your favourite to win the club’s official Goal of the Month award.

GOAL A – AAPO HALME v Bristol City

The Finnish centre-back crashed home an unstoppable header to halve the deficit at Oakwell and start a remarkable turnaround that saw the Reds come from two goals down to snatch a share of the spoils.

GOAL B – CAULEY WOODROW v Bristol City

Reminiscent of his goal against Derby County in October, Barnsley’s leading scorer showed his predatory, poachers’ instinct by turning home Patrick Schmidt’s goalbound effort deep into stoppage time to complete a stunning comeback against a high-flying Robins side.

GOAL C – CAMERON MCGEEHAN v Stoke City

Just minutes after the interval, the Reds launched a swift attack led by Dimitri Cavaré. The full-back found Luke Thomas, who threaded an eye-of-a-needle pass through to McGeehan to slam home in front of the Ponty End.

GOAL D – PATRICK SCHMIDT v Stoke City

The Austrian netted his first Reds’ goal with his first touch of the ball just seconds after coming on as a substitute as he latched onto Alex Mowatt’s pass before confidently slotting past Jack Butland.

GOAL E – CONOR CHAPLIN v Blackburn Rovers

Introduced at half-time, Chaplin made an immediate impact as he levelled the scores within three minutes of the restart. After being fed by Jacob Brown, the diminutive forward lashed a thunderous drive past Christian Walton to round off a flowing team move.

GOAL F – ALEX MOWATT v Hull City

Midway through the first half, Barnsley broke down the left flank and Mike Bähre held off the intentions of Jackson Irvine before teeing up Mowatt to bend in a trademark screamer and put his side on course for a first win since August.

GOAL G – MIKE BÄHRE v Hull City

With the Reds in the ascendency, it looked like only a matter of time before the second goal came – and it duly arrived as Bähre picked up a pass from Mowatt (via a Brown stepover) and casually placed the ball into the bottom corner.

GOAL H – CONOR CHAPLIN v Hull City

Cue scenes of pure ecstasy and relief as a first win since the opening day was finally secured with virtually the last kick of the game. Barnsley broke at pace with Thomas finding Brown, who laid it off for Chaplin to rifle a sensational half-volley home to send Oakwell into delirium.
