Barnsley Football Club can confirm the signing of Keziah Martin.
The young midfielder has joined the Reds following a successful trial period and will link up with Martin Devaney’s U23 squad for the Professional Development League campaign.
Martin has featured in Barnsley’s first three games of the season and impressed with his high energy, creative flair and confidence in possession.
“I’m very happy and looking forward to the new season and seeing how much I can improve as a player,” said Martin.
“I would say that, when I’m on my game and my confidence is high, I can bring a bit of magic. I think I can do things that other players can’t and see things that others wouldn’t usually see.”
The 19-year-old was part of the youth set-up at Vanarama National League outfit Solihull Moors and also had a trial with Premier League side Burnley.
“I was playing with the under 21s in a low league,” continued Martin. “The step-up has been massive and I hope it improves me mentally and as a person.
“The trial with Burnley was a good experience; we played Rangers – they had a couple of first team players. I did well, but it wasn’t what they were looking for as a central midfielder.
“Now, personally, I want to improve as a player, first of all, and hopefully show what I’m made of and try to push into the first team in the future.”
