Mowatt: "It's a point in the right direction."

1 April 2019

Alex Mowatt believes Barnsley had enough chances to beat Coventry City at Oakwell but that they shouldn’t be too dissatisfied with a draw.

The Reds midfielder spoke to the press following an enthralling encounter between two of the division’s promotion chasing sides.

“We had a lot of chances to win the game and we should have taken them. We conceded two sloppy goals and it meant that not taking some of those chances cost us all three points.”

The Reds could have moved seven points clear in 2nd place with a victory but were unable to grab a winning goal. However, Mowatt feels his side can still take some positives from Saturday's game.

“It’s a point in the right direction." Mowatt stated.

"Sunderland and Portsmouth have still got to catch us and the more points we can put on the board the more difficult we make it for them.”

With just six games now remaining, Mowatt was keen to look forward to the next game: “Of course we are a little disappointed but it’s about taking the positives from this match and then go in to the next game looking to improve.”

The Reds remain undefeated in the league since December and travel to Burton Albion this Saturday.
