We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.
Knowing that suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK, a number of Barnsley FC fans are undertaking a mammoth road trip across Europe in order to raise vital funds for MIND. The money raised from this challenge will add to the precious funds that allow MIND to support over 400,000 people each year who experience mental health issues.
Adhering to the ‘musical theme’ and strict vehicle limitations, Reds fan Sue Greatorex customised a 1991 Mazda MX5 with Barnsley FC’s crest and the popular line ‘It’s just like watching Brazil’. Day one saw Sue's team reach France, but day two was all about climbing mountains!
Au revoir France, Grüezi Switzerland.
Unsurpringly, yesterday was another very long day. Our group had an early 7.00am wake-up call and didn't arrive at our evening campsite until 9.30pm!
For a number of reasons, we have been split into teams of 5 and 6. The team that is lucky enough to have the 'It's just like watching Brazil' Mazda MX5 is 'Fake That', including a Nissan, Mini, a hearse and a Rolls Royce!
Despite the heavy downpours of rain, the mountains we crossed were spectacular. We're hoping for similar sights tomorrow and perhaps a little bit of sunshine as we head towards Italy.
On behalf of our group, I'd like to thank Reds fans for their continued support and we'll be keeping a close eye on Saturday's match!
Continuing their trek to Italy throughout friday, supporters will be kept up to date with the progress of Sue and Toby through a daily blog posted on barnsleyfc.co.uk.
