Day 1: Toby On Tour...

6 September 2018

We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.

Knowing that suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK, a number of Barnsley FC fans are undertaking a mammoth road trip across Europe in order to raise vital funds for MIND. The money raised from this challenge will add to the precious funds that allow MIND to support over 400,000 people each year who experience mental health issues.

Adhering to the ‘musical theme’ and strict vehicle limitations, Reds fan Sue Greatorex customised a 1991 Mazda MX5 with Barnsley FC’s crest and the popular line ‘It’s just like watching Brazil’. She is delighted to finally get moving!

DAY 1:

We left from Leicester at 10.00am in our ‘It’s Just Like Watching Brazil’ themed motor in great company! A London Cab and even a 35 year old Rolls Royce joined us on the starting line.

Ahead of the Grand Departure, we were delighted to hand over a cheque for £100,000 to MIND which is obviously fantastic and we can’t thank people enough for their generosity.

Ultimately, the day was all about getting into France. The Port was a particular milestone and has given us some belief that our little 1991 Mazda MX5 might just make the journey.

We’re really looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead, including our first leg on the mountains tomorrow!
