The Senegalese forward's vicious strike against Luton Town is in the running for Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month for October.
Having already won the supporters' votes for our own Goal of the Month award following that terrific goal against Luton Town, Mamadou Thiam's top-corner finish has now been nominated alongside two other Sky Bet League One goals scored last month.
The October nominations for the
Sky Bet League One
Goal of the Month Award are:
Tom Eaves – Portsmouth v GILLINGHAM – 6th October
Back to goal with a header dropping towards him, Eaves cushioned the ball with his left foot, looped it up with his right, then swivelled to flash home a left-foot volley. Samba style.
Mamadou Thiam – BARNSLEY v Luton Town – 13th October
Loitering with intent to pounce just outside the area, Thiam seized the moment to intercept a clearance, take two touches towards goal and whip a sweet shot into the far corner.
Chris Maguire – SUNDERLAND v Southend United – 27th October
A second straight nomination for Maguire. As he intercepted a pass in midfield and strode forward into space to shoot, the only question was which top corner he would choose.
