The Reds head to Southend for this weekend's second round tie in the Emirates FA Cup and we've got you covered with our big match preview.
Barnsley go head to head with Southend United tomorrow afternoon at Roots Hall, hoping to progress into Monday’s Emirates FA Cup 3rd Round draw, where the Premier League clubs enter.
This is the sixth FA Cup meeting between the sides, with the Reds famously winning the last encounter back in 2008. Jamal Campbell-Ryce's stunner saw Barnsley to a 1-0 triumph in that year's fairytale run to the semi finals of the competition.
With both sides meeting in the league just under a month ago with Kieffer Moore grabbing a late winner at Oakwell, the Blues will be looking for revenge.
Andreas Winkler and Mike Bähre addressed the press in midweek, looking ahead to this fixture and you can watch their pre-match videos over on iFollow Barnsley.
Southend boss, Chris Powell is hoping his side will have enough to get into the third round draw where the chance of a plum tie could arise.
He told southendunited.co.uk: “I want us to go for it. We haven’t been in the Second Round for a long time and you could tell me the last time we were in the 3rd Round – it was quite a while.
“It would be great for us to do that because you just never know what could happen, but we’ve got a tough draw, no doubt about it.
“We’re at home, but actually in the cup it doesn’t matter. Whether they make changes or not is irrelevant, we’ve got to put out an 11 that’ll do themselves justice.”
There will be commentary, LIVE from Roots Hall over on iFollow Barnsley, but due to unforeseen circumstances, this will be provided by BBC Radio Essex. Please be aware that their focus will naturally be on the home side.
