Jordan Smith Arrives From Nottingham Forest

16 November 2018

‘Keeper joins on an emergency-loan.

Barnsley Football Club can confirm that 23-year-old Jordan Smith has arrived on a one-week emergency loan from Nottingham Forest.

Adam Davies is currently away on international duty with Wales meaning he is unable to play against Accrington Stanley this weekend, and Jack Walton picked up an injury against Bradford City in the Checaktrade Trophy on Tuesday evening. This has left the Reds without a senior goalkeeper, meaning the emergency-loan rule can be exercised.

Smith comes to Oakwell ahead of the Accrington Stanley match with 44 Sky Bet Championship appearances under his belt over the last two years at parent club Nottingham Forest. The stopper is now in line to make his Barnsley debut this weekend.

Chief Executive Gauthier Ganaye commented: “Firstly we’re really thankful to Nottingham Forest for allowing us to take Jordan on-loan, they’ve helped us out when we needed it. We’re really pleased to be able to bring in a goalkeeper with Jordan’s experience at such short notice and we look forward to welcoming him into the squad.

“It’s really unfortunate that both our senior goalkeepers are unavailable at once, but these situations can happen in football. We have an important game this weekend and we’ll be backed by another superb away contingent, I know Jordan is looking forward to seeing that already.”

Welcome to Oakwell, Jordan!
