The Reds have a new number nine and his name is Curtis Beaumont.
The 12-year-old will spend the game today following in the footsteps of his heroes and put on that famous red strip as a member of Daniel Stendel’s matchday squad.
A passionate Barnsley season ticket holder, Curtis has been given the opportunity of a lifetime and will take part in all pre-match duties before taking his place in the tunnel and walking out with the teams at Oakwell.
Curtis will get to meet the first team squad as well as Daniel Stendel and his backroom staff, before his name is read out alongside the team by our Stadium Announcer this afternoon at Oakwell. The youngsters name also features on the back of this week's issue of BE RED, in-between Cameron McGeehan and George Moncur.
No player can get away without doing his share of the press duties and Curtis is no different. He will conduct an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield before the game and then head pitch side for the pre-match warm ups.
Accompanying Curtis for his big day will be three members of his family, they will be watching on from our executive area.
We at Barnsley Football Club would like to extend our congratulations to Curtis, and we hope he has a day he'll remember and cherish for a long time.
