Barnsley FC Ladies will be looking to make it eight wins from eight when they play host to Newcastle United Women on Sunday.
The Reds have been on a fine run of form which has seen them win all of their matches (in all competitions) in October and November, including impressive displays against Chorley and local rivals Leeds.
Barnsley’s good run has seen them go from languishing second bottom to challenging at the other end of the table in the space of two months. Before their run started in the cup against Burton, Barnsley had only won one competitive game all season which came in the form of a hard-fought 5-4 victory away at Liverpool Feds Women.
Newcastle Women travel to Barnsley in 6th position having won only two of their last five games, but will be looking to get a second win on the bounce after most recently turning Crewe Alexandra over 2-0 at home.
Reflecting on the last two months, Reds manager Chris Hamilton said: “We set ourselves a target. We looked at the seven games in October and November, and we thought we could win them all, and we’ve managed to do it."
Looking ahead to Sunday’s game, he said: “It promises to be a good game. Newcastle are a good side and beat us in the cup earlier in the season, so I’m sure our players will be looking to put that right.”
