Oli McBurnie Nominated For Monthly Award.

8 March 2018

Striker nominated for Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month!

After a stunning first month with the Reds following his deadline-day arrival on-loan from Premier League Swansea City, Oli McBurnie has been rewarded with a nomination for the prestigious Sky Bet Championship 'Player of the Month' award for February.

The forward netted four times in the month of February, before making it five in five against Cardiff City on Tuesday evening, thus carrying his form forward into March!

The full list of nominations for the award are below, showing stiff competition after a highly competitive month.

Oli McBurnie (Barnsley) – striker

The young Scot has made a startling impact at Oakwell, having scored four goals in four starts - all but one of Barnsley’s tally in February. He wants the ball all the time, loves to take on defenders using his trickery and knows how to finish.

Sean Morrison (Cardiff City) – central defender

The commanding leader of a Cardiff defence which conceded just two goals all month. Strong in the tackle, it is his power in the air which made the difference in both areas, scoring three goals in five games – all headers.

Tim Ream (Fulham) – central defender

For all Fulham’s flowing football, Ream’s composure at the back was central to three clean sheets in the month. Magnificent against Aston Villa, his last-ditch tackle on Benik Afobe against leaders Wolves exemplified his determination.

Billy Sharp (Sheffield United) – striker

Irregular playing time in January served to spur on a focused Sharp to rediscover his scoring touch in February. As well as an assist against QPR, he managed four goals in four games, including a wonderful scissors kick volley against Leeds.

WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY 9 MARCH 2018

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford.
