Oli McBurnie Gets Scotland Call Up!

12 March 2018

Barnsley forward Oli McBurnie has been rewarded for his fine form with a call-up to the Scotland national team.

Alex McLeish, who was appointed as Head Coach for the second time on 16 February, named the Swansea City loanee in his 23-man squad to face Costa Rica and Hungary.

McBurnie has scored five goals in seven games since arriving at Oakwell from South Wales in the January transfer window, and was also named SkyBet Championship Player of the Month for February.

The 21-year-old bagged his first Barnsley goal in the south Yorkshire derby with a magnificent solo effort to earn the Reds a point in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

He then followed that up with a double against Birmingham in the 2-0 win at St. Andrew’s, before finding the target in the 1-1 draw at Hull City and the 2-1 defeat at Cardiff City.

Everyone at Barnsley Football Club wishes Oli all the best whilst away with his national team!
