Keeping you updated on how our players out on loan are getting on at their respective temporary homes…
ALEX MOWATT continued his fine form at Oxford United as Derek Fazackerley’s side picked up a crucial three points against Peterborough United, under the charge of newly appointed manager Steve Evans.
The versatile 23-year-old played 88 minutes as the U’s secured a 2-1 victory at the Kassam Stadium, with Rob Dickie and James Henry on the scoresheet. The result sees Oxford move to 15th in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone.
Elsewhere in League One, CAMERON MCGEEHAN was an unused substitute as Scunthorpe United’s poor run continued with a 2-1 defeat at home to promotion-chasing Shrewsbury Town.
Graham Alexander’s side led through Josh Morris’ early strike but the Iron surrendered all three points after the interval and lost further ground on the automatic promotion spots. Scunthorpe are fifth in the table, but are currently on a seven game winless streak.
There was better news for DYLAN MOTTLEY-HENRY and JACOB BROWN at Chesterfield, who moved off the foot of the League Two table with a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham Town.
Mottley-Henry wasn’t in the matchday squad but Brown played 73 minutes for Jack Lester’s side, who led before Brian Graham’s late equaliser. The Spireites are six points from safety, but have two games in hand on 22nd place Grimsby Town.
Also in League Two, JARED BIRD played a full 90 minutes as Yeovil Town picked up their first win since 17 February at Colchester United, courtesy of Alex Fisher’s strike midway through the first half.
That 1-0 victory result leaves Darren Way’s side 17th in the table, 11 points clear of the bottom two.
Finally in the Vanarama National League, SHAUN TUTON didn’t feature as FC Halifax Town drew 1-1 away to Guiseley.
JACK WALTON returned to Oakwell over the weekend to take a place on José Morais' bench against Millwall, as Adam Davies was absent for the birth of his baby daughter.
