José Morais: "I think it will be an interesting game."

5 March 2018

José Morais is confident that Barnsley can maintain this run of form when they travel to Cardiff City on Tuesday evening.

The Reds have picked up four points in their last two away games at Birmingham City and Hull City, which has seen Morais’ side climb out of the bottom three.

Another positive result in South Wales against the promotion-chasing Bluebirds would further strengthen Barnsley’s Championship credentials ahead of a crucial run-in.

“We are aware that they are a strong side and we want to use our strong side, and I think it will be an interesting game,” said the Reds’ Head Coach.

“I can feel and see that the team is believing more in their quality, and this is important. I expect the team to keep going in this direction.”

With the Reds’ game against Norwich City at the weekend postponed due to inclement weather, teams at the foot of the table had an opportunity to heap the pressure on Barnsley.

But Morais remains focussed on the task at hand and is adamant that his side cannot rely on favours from elsewhere to secure their Championship status.

“We follow the league and our focus in not on other results,” continued the Head Coach. "Other results have an impact, but our focus is on what we can do and impact the goal that we have to achieve the points that we need.

“I am looking at the situation, and the players are also looking at the situation. Cardiff is a team in a different moment; we are in a moment where we are growing and I believe that three points are important for us to go in the direction that we want.”
