The versatile defender has today left Oakwell and signed for fellow League One side Luton Town.
Barnsley Football Club can today confirm that defender Matty Pearson has ended his stay at Oakwell and signed for Luton Town.
Moving to Kenilworth Road for an undisclosed fee, Pearson had been a Red for just short of 12 months and made 19 appearances in the 2017/18 campaign.
Reds CEO Gauthier Ganaye explained the reasons for the move, telling us: "We've made the decision as Matty is wanting this season to play week in, week out, which we can understand and we were happy to help him satisfy that need as well as protecting ourselves as a club.
"Despite him being here just a short time, Matty was a great lad around the club and we feel this is a mutually beneficial move. It was in our interests as a club to get a good deal, which we certainly have done by making a profit on the player and also retaining an interest in his future."
Everyone at Barnsley FC would like to wish Matty all the best in this next stage of his career.
