Barnsley 3-1 Bradford City | 12 October 2014

21 June 2018

The fixtures for 2018/19 have been released! We travel to local rivals Bradford City for our second game of the campaign on Saturday 11 August, before hosting the Bantams on Saturday 12 January. We look back at a classic clash at Oakwell from the 2014/15 season.

In a first meeting between the two sides in over eight years, it was Barnsley who claimed bragging rights in the Yorkshire derby with a 3-1 victory at Oakwell.

But Danny Wilson’s team had to come from behind after midfielder Jason Kennedy slotted the Bantams ahead inside the opening minute to send the travelling supporters delirious.

It took the Reds until three minutes after half-time to restore parity as Bradford defender Rory McArdle inadvertently headed Conor Hourihane’s free-kick beyond Jordan Pickford.

Barnsley took the lead midway through the second half as Sam Winnall crashed home Lewin Nyatanga’s low drive as the Ponty End erupted.

Kane Hemmings sealed all three points for the Reds as he curled home into the bottom corner from the edge of the area to ensure the home faithful went home happy.

Wilson’s side finished the season 11th – three points and four places behind the Bantams.
