Romal Palmer has signed a one-year contract extension with Barnsley Football Club.
The skilful midfielder featured regularly for the under 23s in the Professional Development League last season, before injury brought his campaign to a premature finish.
Palmer has been with the Reds since 2016 after being released by Manchester City, and is thrilled to have put pen to paper on a new deal at Oakwell until the end of the 2018/19 season.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” said the 19-year-old. “Obviously, it’s a great Club so I want to try and push to the first team and make my mark. So it’s a good start and I just want to get going.
“Injuries are part of football to be fair, but it’s helped me a lot, mentally, being off the pitch. I’ve been able to focus a lot more, so I think it’s only going to benefit me. If I can look after myself this year then I can definitely keep the injuries in the past.
“I’m really excited for the new season; I can’t wait to get my boots on and get back out there, and prove a lot of people wrong by showing what I can do.”
