PRESS | Ethan Pinnock

14 July 2018

We caught up with defender, Ethan Pinnock following an impressive performance in the Reds' latest pre-season outing.

Completing the full 90 minutes at the Peninsula Stadium, Ethan Pinnock was probably the stand-out performer in today's 1-0 victory away at Salford City.

Whilst Barnsley came out on top in their third straight friendly match, if it wasn't for the intervention of Pinnock on a number of occasions, Daniel Stendel's side could well have been pegged back.

One of last season's success stories, Ethan is hoping to build on that in League One this time around.

"I think fitness is the aim really in pre-season," he told us post-match.

"But in the first half I thought we played really well. Not so much in the second half but that can happen when there are so many changes, it can impact on the game but overall I'd say the boys are pleased.

"You go into every and any game trying to win it, so that's a bonus, but we're just getting the minutes in and stepping it up each time really. That was my first 90 of the summer, and when Davo (Adam Davies) came off I had the armband so that was nice as well.

"Last year I had a couple of injuries so it was a bit stop-start for me. But when I did play I felt I did myself justice. But with relegation, of course everyone was really disappointed so we're looking to bounce straight back this season. We've a good set of lads here and if we play to the manager's instructions we should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season."
