10 July 2018

The young Reds winger was on target in the 7-1 victory over York City on Tuesday night and he gave iFollow his reaction post-match at Bootham Crescent.

In what was a thumping pre-season friendly victory for Barnsley against York City this evening, Dylan Mottley-Henry was pleased with his own performance and that of the team at this early stage of the summer.

Capping his display with a fine goal to make it 7-1 on the night, the former Bradford City speedster was naturally satisfied with the night's work but admits it's been hard work in pre-season so far.

"It's been quite tough this summer," he admitted.

"It always will be when you've a new manager and you're getting to grips with a new formation, new tactics and how he wants you to play. But I think we've adapted to things really quickly and thankfully that showed in the result tonight."

Despite making his Reds debut last season and successful - albeit brief - loan spells away from Oakwell, Dylan suffered with injuries and has had to fight back from surgery.

He feels he's getting back to his best now in terms of fitness and hopes that he can have an impact for Barnsley in the 2018/19 season.

He told us: "It's been tough coming back from the surgery, almost six months out. I feel I'm getting there, back to my full potential. I'm not looking to go back out on loan this season, I want to be in and around the Barnsley first team, that's where I see myself.

"I think I'm ready for that, ready to step and raring to go."
