Adam Davies ahead of Villa test

19 January 2018

The Reds Captain faced the press ahead of the trip to Villa Park this weekend.

With four clean sheets registered in the last six league games, the Reds have been proving a much tougher nut to crack of late.

The Barnsley number one feels that it's largely down to a more settled defence as well as the fact that the squad have now been together for nearly six months and are growing together with every passing game.

As he explained: "Things have been good recently. We've been working a lot on things out on the training field and taking it out onto the pitch in games.

"You only have to look at the clean sheets. That's the basis we work from. If we're racking up clean sheets then we've always got a chance to win the game.

"A lot of the improvement is down to application from every individual. Communication between each other is a massive help too.

"We've had a fairly settled back four over the last seven or eight games, I think that helps. And of course we're getting to know each more so you can kind of gauge whether someone will head the ball, whether they'll come short or push on and whatever. It's all about understanding and that naturally takes time."
