Jacob Brown heads to Chesterfield on loan

31 January 2018

19-year-old striker is the second Reds youngster to join The Spireites on deadline day.

Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Jacob Brown has signed for Chesterfield FC on loan for the remainder of the 2017/18 season, to gain vital first team experience.

The young striker has been continually impressive for the Barnsley U23s, regularly scoring goals and captaining the side. His constant progression was rewarded during the 2016/17 season by making his debut for Paul Heckingbottom’s first team in the 2-0 win away at Brentford.

With more first team involvement this season, Brown was rewarded with an extended contract at Oakwell until the summer of 2020. It has now been decided by the Club that his development would be further enhanced with first team football at the Proact Stadium in Sky Bet League Two, joining teammate Dylan Mottley-Henry in a deadline day move.

We would like to wish Jacob the best of luck on his move and will keep fans updated on his progress!
