Junior Takeover Application

The Reds host Norwich City on March 3rd and we’re proud to give six Junior Reds an exclusive opportunity!

Have you ever wanted to know what it is like to work at Oakwell on a matchday? Have you ever wanted to get behind the scenes and experience things that other fans could only dream of?

Barnsley FC are delighted to give junior fans the opportunity to come down to Oakwell and help various departments at the Club throughout Saturday 3rd March, as we take on Norwich City.

 Reds fans between the age of 6-12 can apply for one of the following roles;

 -       Stadium Announcer Assistant

 Be the voice of Oakwell and assist our Stadium Announcer throughout the day. You’ll be able to announce the teams to both sets of fans, before shouting the famous ‘You Reds’ just before kick-off! You’ll also be on the pitch at half-time, overseeing the entertainment, whilst reading out messages from a script. Your view of the game is unrivalled, as you’ll be sat in the PA Room, with a unique view of the ground.

-       iFollow Commentator

 Have you ever watched the Reds on TV and wanted to be the voice that everyone can hear? Sat in the West Stand with the Barnsley FC media team, you will be able to commentate on the action, and hear your voice on our highlights package the next day! You will be given access to our Media Suite and post-match press conferences.

 -       Grounds Person Assistant

One of the most important jobs on a Matchday. You will assist the grounds team in ensuring that the Oakwell pitch is fit for kick-off! You will be responsible for putting the corner flags in place, painting the white lines across the dug-out, as well as replacing divots after the warm ups.

-       Kit Person Assistant

Staying within the realms of the first team dressing room, you will be given an ‘Access All Areas’ pass and be solely responsible for numerous players kit. Following guidance from our Kit-Man, you will make sure that specific players kit and boots are presented neatly and that the dressing room remains tidy throughout your shift.

-       Club Journalist

You will come in to action once the full-time whistle has blown. Watching the game from the West Stand, you will have 90 minutes to prepare a series of questions for our post-match press conference. You will be given the one-off chance to quiz a player and member of staff on the events of the day. Your finished work will be published across our website and social media channels!

-       Social Media Assistant

 Your role will be to capture the entire day on camera. ‘Taking over’ one of our official accounts, you will capture numerous videos, before posting them out to our thousands of followers. During the game, you will also be called upon to give opinions for social media commentary!
