Barnsley Hospice takeover Oakwell this Saturday!
Over the Christmas period, the entire Reds first team squad visited Barnsley Hospice continuing our successful partnership and we’re delighted to welcome them back to Oakwell on Saturday for the South Yorkshire derby.
This is a partnership that sees Barnsley Hospice and Barnsley Football Club work together on numerous events throughout the year to help raise awareness and funds for the Hospice to help them provide specialist compassionate care to patients and their families in Barnsley.
Since the Hospice opened its doors in 1994, our work has touched the lives of thousands of local people with life limiting illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, Parkinson`s and motor neurone disease. This has been made possible through the unstinting support of the Barnsley community.
But while the Hospice care is free for patients, it is not free to provide. They gratefully receive funding from NHS Barnsley, but still need to raise over £2 million every year to keep the Hospice running – a difficult figure in today’s economic climate. Barnsley Hospice rely heavily on public and company donations, legacies, grants, community fundraising events and income from our eight charity shops. And we’d love it if you could get involved too!
Donations can be made at the Hospice, at any of our charity shops or over the phone on Barnsley 244244"
