20 December 2018

Striker agrees new contract until 2021.

Barnsley Football Club are delighted to announce that 20-year-old striker, Victor Adeboyejo, has signed a new contract at Oakwell until the summer of 2021, with a further year optional in favour of the club.

After stepping-up to the first team under Daniel Stendel - following a prolific year in the U23s during 2017/18 – Adeboyejo has impressed the on-looking Oakwell faithful and has begun his professional Barnsley career well, netting four goals in six starts, across all competitions.

The memorable moments have come both home and away, fans can see a reminder of how Victor has been performing this season below, with a video on iFollow Barnsley!

Apologies, this video is unvailable.

Speaking to iFollow Barnsley after signing his contract, Adeboyejo said: “I’m over the moon to have finally got it across the line; a lot of hard work and time has gone into it and I’m thankful to the Club for taking time out to sort it out for me, and for my family and friends for supporting me over the years. It’s lovely to be given the opportunity to sign a new deal.”

After seeing another one of his valued young prospects extend his Oakwell stay, Head Coach Daniel Stendel told barnsleyfc.co.uk: “Victor has been very good so far in my time here. He has scored goals and helped the team, I like seeing him progress and develop as a player as well as a professional off the pitch. We’re very happy he has chosen to sign a new deal and will continue in our team as we look to achieve our goal.”

Reds Chief Executive Gauthier Ganaye expressed further satisfaction in securing one of the club’s promising youngsters to a longer-term contract, he said: “It’s another positive signing for us after the other extensions in recent weeks. It was very obvious, very quickly, that Victor wanted to be here and the contract was never in doubt. We have been very clear as a club that our philosophy is to develop young players and bring them into our first team, that’s exactly what we have seen under Daniel’s leadership this season. We also need to say a huge well done to Victor, his application and determination has paid off, he’s performed well and deserved this deal.”
