Such has been the fine start made to the season, there are SEVEN nominess this month, and below we outline the reasons why they've been shortlisted for the August prize.
ADAM DAVIES
The Reds captain and number one has been in fine form so far, leading by example throughout August, earning four clean sheets along the way, yet to concede from open play.
DIMITRI CAVARÉ
A superb first month of the season for Dimi who has defended well, using his pace to good effect but also contributing at the other end of the pitch with three assists and a vital goal to his name.
ETHAN PINNOCK
Following on from last season, Ethan has been cool, calm and collected as the Barnsley backline shut out a succession of sides throughout August.
KENNY DOUGALL
One of the few additions to Daniel Stendel's squad this summer has played as though he's been here for years, slotting straight into the side with consumate ease.
ALEX MOWATT
The left-footed midfielder is back at the club and thriving under Daniel Stendel; the driving force for Barnsley during the opening month of the season.
BRAD POTTS
Continuing where he left off from last season, Potts has been deployed out wide by the Reds management so far and has made an impact already with goals and assists to his name.
KIEFFER MOORE
Four goals from the first month is a solid return for the Reds striker who is once more proving his ability at this level; a wonderful hat-trick against Rochdale the highlight so far.
