Tom Bradshaw Joins Millwall FC

23 August 2018

Striker leaves Oakwell after two years in a Barnsley shirt.

Barnsley Football Club have reluctantly accepted an offer for Tom Bradshaw from Milwall FC. The striker will initially join the London-based outfit on loan before his deal is made permanent in January, for an undisclosed fee. The Reds will retain an interest in the future of the player.

The Club have been clear in their stance throughout the entire summer that our number one aim is promotion from Sky Bet League One. The Club have fought as hard as possible to keep Tom at Oakwell and have offered him a new contract, which was rejected. This offer now represents a good deal for both parties and the Board of Directors would like to reiterate that all funds from this transfer will be invested into the playing squad, in order to seek an immediate replacement.

There has been intense media speculation about Bradshaw’s future all summer. The Club would like to place on record that the professionalism shown by Tom and his representatives has been first class. The player has shown an excellent attitude both on and off the pitch, never letting the speculation distract him from putting Barnsley Football Club first during his time at Oakwell.

Tom leaves with the best wishes of everyone connected to Barnsley Football Club and we wish him the best of luck for his future career.

Chief Executive Gauthier Ganaye has issued the following comments to barnsleyfc.co.uk after the departure.

He said: “We understand that our fans will naturally be disappointed. This is part of football and when a valuation is met that suits all parties, the Board of Directors have a decision to make together, for the long-term stability of the club. We were determined to keep Tom at Oakwell, but we were always prepared if he did go and we now want to reinvest the money in the targets identified. As mentioned in the statement, Tom and his representatives have shown us maximum respect in this deal and acted with total professionalism. He leaves with our absolute best wishes.

“We have some excellent talent in this playing squad and that has been shown by the strong start to this season. We now need to keep focused and move ahead together, looking forward to our next match at Scunthorpe on Saturday in front of another sold out away end. Thank you for your fantastic support, let’s keep going.”
