Midfielder arrives at Oakwell on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Barnsley Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of 23-year-old German midfielder, Mike-Steven Bähre on loan from Bundesliga side Hannover 96.
The loan-deal is until the end of the 2018/19 Sky Bet League One campaign and the Reds have an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. This will allow Bähre a full season to work with Daniel Stendel again, with whom he has played for at the Bundesliga side throughout his early career.
As a versatile, ball-playing midfielder who can comfortably operate across the midfield in different roles, Bähre will add knowledge and experience of Stendel’s style to the Reds, becoming the fifth signing of a productive summer window at Oakwell.
Chief Executive Gauthier Ganaye commented to barnsleyfc.co.uk after the deal was completed, saying: “We’re really pleased to have signed Mike. He’s a player that Daniel [Stendel] mentioned instantly to us when he arrived at the club, so we know how highly he is regarded and the quality he has got. Mike has chosen to join us and that’s what we need, players who want to be part of this club and help us to achieve our goals. It’s a great way to end the window!”
