Loan Round-Up

12 April 2018

Keeping you updated on how our players out on loan are getting on at their respective temporary homes…

CAMERON MCGEEHAN was introduced just after the hour mark as Scunthorpe United came from behind to salvage a draw at AFC Wimbledon.

The Iron have drawn their last three games 1-1, but haven’t won since 3 February - form that has seen them slip out of the play-off spots after being candidates for automatic promotion.

Nick Daws’ side are still in contention to secure a top six finish in League One, but need to turn draws into wins if they are to challenge for Championship promotion at the end of the season.

Elsewhere in the third tier, ALEX MOWATT was unavailable through suspension for Oxford United’s 0-0 draw at home to Oldham Athletic.

However, the versatile 23-year-old made his return to the starting line-up in midweek as the U’s lost 1-0 at home to Fleetwood Town courtesy of Conor McAleny’s last minute goal.

Karl Robinson’s side are 18th, five points above the relegation zone with five games remaining.

In League Two, JACOB BROWN played the full 90 minutes as Chesterfield suffered a damaging 1-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Grimsby Town at the weekend.

The Mariners were awarded a contentious 88th minute penalty, which Mitch Rose duly converted to further deepen the Spireites’ plight.

Brown also featured from start to finish as Chesterfield came from two goals down to rescue what could be a priceless point at Morecambe on Tuesday.

Jack Lester’s side are bottom of the table - five points from safety - but have games in hand on the teams above.

Also in League Two, JARED BIRD played the entire match as Yeovil Town were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by promotion-chasing Luton Town in a fiery encounter at Huish Park on Saturday.

The Glovers were reduced to nine men inside 32 minutes as first Ryan Dickinson and then Francois Zoko were shown straight red cards.

Bird was then an unused substitute as Yeovil twice came from behind to claim a share of the spoils away to Swindon Town in midweek.

Darren Way’s side are now 18th in the table, ten points above the drop zone.

Finally, forward SHAUN TUTON was not in the matchday squad as FC Halifax Town claimed back-to-back 2-1 victories against Boreham Wood and Sutton United in the Vanarama National League.
