TEAM NEWS: Ipswich Town Vs Barnsley

10 April 2018

Reds’ Head Coach José Morais has confirmed that Oli McBurnie is fit for Tuesday night’s game with Ipswich Town.

The forward, on loan from Swansea City, scored the equaliser as Barnsley came from behind to beat Sheffield United in the South Yorkshire derby on Saturday.

“From the victory on Saturday I think the news is the same; the players who were involved in that game are fit,” said Morais.

“Oli felt something in his groin, but it wasn’t really an injury it was lack of mobility and he felt good; and you saw his performance was followed with the most volume of running he has done since he came to the club. He is fit for Tuesday.”

The Reds will also be without full-back Dani Pinillos and forward Mamadou Thiam for the trip to Portman Road.

Both players picked up knocks in training, but Morais expects the duo to be back before the campaign draws to a close.

“Dani Pinillos has some issues and for that reason he is recovering from an injury,” continued the Head Coach. “I believe that he will soon be in condition to give his maximum quality to the team.”

“Mamadou Thiam is injured - it was a tackle in the training session and he is out. I expect him to be back before the end of the season.

“We have a big squad and for that reason, having injuries means other players are having opportunities and I believe all the players that are here deserve their opportunity.

“When the squad is big you make a selection, and with this selection you give opportunities to certain players. But I believe in the qualities of the players here; they have their own potential, qualities and values that can be important to the club in certain moments.”
