Fan Information | Barnsley v Sheffield United

6 April 2018

Safety checks will be in place around Oakwell ahead of South Yorkshire derby.

Fans are reminded that the kick-off time is 12.15pm.

There will be an increased police presence in and around Oakwell ahead of, during and after the match to ensure fan safety at all times.

Prior to the game, specifically trained pyrotechnic detection dogs will be on duty to ensure no supporters attempt to enter the ground with any form of pyrotechnic. As well as this, there will be searches conducted on all supporters entering the ground just like any other match day.

Alcohol will be served on the away concourse up until kick-off ONLY. Sheffield United fans will not be served alcohol at half-time.

The Reds will take on the Blades at Oakwell for the first time since 2015, which saw a late Conor Hourihane equaliser mean the points were shared in a 1-1 draw.

Shortly before kick-off, supporters of both Barnsley Football Club and Sheffield United are asked to come together and celebrate the life of former England captain Ray Wilkins, by taking part in a minutes applause. The 61-year-old, who passed away this week, will be fondly remembered across the game for his time both on English soil and abroad. Everyone connected with both Club’s would like to send their best wishes to Ray’s family and friends.
