Bobby Supports Weston Park Day!

3 April 2018

Bobby urges fans to support Weston Park Day.

Reds legend and Academy Manager Bobby Hassell is urging all fans to support a charity close to his heart this weekend and help raise much needed funds to support cancer patients locally.

Bobby, who is a patron of Weston Park Cancer Charity now knows only too well the fantastic work the charity does supporting the hospital and its services throughout the region.

“I first became involved with the charity after a close friend of mine was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2007. He was treated at Weston Park Hospital and the care and understanding through his treatment was spoken highly about. Following his experiences, me and some of the players at Barnsley at that time got involved in fundraising and supported him.

"This then led to me getting involved with a few campaigns at the charity including Extra Time and the Big Pedal, which I helped to promote and get involved with in Barnsley.

"I was delighted to be asked to become a patron of the charity and I help them now where I can to help raise awareness of the charity in the region.

“I have since had many friends who have been treated by Weston Park, including Patrick Cryne who sadly lost his battle against this vile disease and now know just how much work is going on and needs to be done in the battle against cancer.

"I urge Reds fans to support the charity on Saturday and dig deep for the bucket collections and also spend some time learning more about the work the charity does and support them in the many events they have throughout the year.

"It is an honour to be a Patron and I am especially proud of the partnership Weston Park has with the football club and long may it continue."

Secure your seat for Saturday's clash against Sheffield United and show your support for Weston Park at Oakwell.
