Gary Gardner: "Every week I'll put the top on and work my socks off."

8 September 2017

25-year-old can’t wait to get his Barnsley career started!

The experienced midfielder arrived on a season-long loan deal from Sky Bet Championship rivals Aston Villa.

Before potentially making his debut at Preston at the weekend, Gary discussed his move to Oakwell and ambitions as a Red.

“I just can’t wait to get started here,” he stated. “The Gaffer here gave me a call and told me about the plans he’s got for the team and how I’d be a part of that. I’m excited about that and looking forward to playing football again. This is a young and hungry group of lads and I’m here now, I’m here for a year at least so as far as I’m concerned I’m a Barnsley player and I’m going to put the top on and work my socks off for this club.

“My focus is getting us up that table and winning loads of games. I was told all about the Gaffer before I came here, that he’s hard working with all the lads and I could see that within the first few days of being here as we’ve been doing double sessions which is really attractive for me. I like working hard and I know that will continue.”
