This Saturday is Military Day at Oakwell!

11 October 2017

We have lots in store as the Reds take on Boro this Saturday at Oakwell!

To help our services raise awareness of the honourable work that they do, Barnsley Football Club have scheduled numerous, engaging, military-themed activities that Reds fans can take part in as part of ‘Military Day’ this Saturday October 14th, when the Reds host Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship.

Whilst raising the profile of recruitment drives is critical, hosting an event like this gives fans and communities alike the chance to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community; from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.

In advance of Military Day, all military groups/personnel of a Reds persuasion are also invited to submit photos for use in a special picture board slideshow throughout the afternoon.

Send your photos to marketing@barnsleyfc.co.uk

From 1pm on Saturday afternoon, the external activities which are listed below, will be set up and ready for visitors to enjoy and participate with.

- Paintball Range
- Static Vehicle
- Sea Cadets Military Band (performing from 14:00)
- Marine Station

The military theme will then continue into Oakwell itself! Prior to kick off, our visiting Barnsley Sea Cadets will perform live, providing an alternative offering to the normal match-day soundtrack.

Following the musical performance, cadets and soldiers alike will form a ‘Guard of Honour’ whilst representatives from 4 YORKS Battalion and members of the Royal Marines Commando Recruitment Troop will accompany the match officials on to the pitch*.

Finally, rounding off the afternoon’s non-footballing entertainment, the Royal Marines will perform a combat display on the Oakwell turf, with Toby Tyke scheduled to make an appearance!

*We also have a surprise lined up! All will become apparent around five minutes prior to kick off!

Don't forget that this is the first opportunity for Reds supporters to use their Flexi-Ticket.
