Paul Heckingbottom on yesterday's victory

5 November 2017

The Gaffer gave his reaction to the Reds' 2-0 victory over Birmingham City at Oakwell.

A goal in either half settled the latest Sky Bet Championship outing for Barnsley, with Tom Bradshaw's ninth goal of the campaign inside two minutes giving the Reds a lead they scarcely looked like surrendering, before a Zeki Fryers free-kick in the second half put the contest to bed.

It was a very comfortable afternoon for Hecky's side where for probably the first time in a while at Oakwell, Barnsley married result and performance, which was something that pleased the Head Coach.

"We got the performance and the result." he told us post-match.

"In fact, it was a dominant performance and a good result. It's nice to get a result in front of our supporters, but it's like I said in midweek, we get three points and it doesn't really matter to us whether it's at home or away. But I do accept it's nice for the home support to see us get that victory today.

"I think we could have kept the ball a little better today, but it was pleasing to see us get the clean sheet. I think we defended well today and I saw some very good decision making at times, especially towards the end there.

"You get belief from wins. Barring a couple of games this season our performances have been really good. So when you're not getting the results it dwindles that confidence I suppose.

"So when the wins come along, you keep doing the right things and that belief builds within. The players and staff have been first class, it's been three months and some of these lads didn't arrive until the end of August.

"I'm still learning about these players, they're still learning, so who knows where we can go?"
