Powerful striker remains at Oakwell after securing his first professional deal.
18-year-old Louis Rowe has today signed his first professional contract with Barnsley Football Club. The athletically built Rowe has shone within the academy set-up, hitting the back of the net on plenty of occasions for the U18s side throughout the 2016/17 season.
His form was rewarded with progression to Paul Harsley’s U23s side towards the end of the season where he continued to impress and he has now committed to the Reds until the summer of 2018.
We are pleased that Louis has committed his immediate future to the Reds and we look forward to seeing his development continue with the Club.
After confirming his stay with the Club, Louis said, "I am really, really delighted to stay at the Club. I was so happy when I was told I was being offered a deal at a Club that I think so much of. I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me during my time here so far because without them I wouldn't be here. I'm really proud of this and I know I need to keep working hard now to improve, then hopefully get into the first team."
Academy Manager Bobby Hassell commented, “Louis has shown some real determination whilst with us. He’s a talented lad with some real power in him and ability in front of goal. He’s scored a hatful this season and his physicality has proved a real problem for opposition defenders so we are looking forward to him progressing now, working hard and continuing to showcase what he can do.”
