Ethan Pinnock Joins The Reds!

30 June 2017

We are delighted to confirm the signing of 24-year-old Ethan Pinnock from Forest Green Rovers on a three-year deal.

A towering central defender, Pinnock can operate both centrally and on the left-hand-side of the defence, becoming the Reds’ fifth permanent summer recruit.

Having joined Forest Green from Dulwich Hamlet in the summer of 2016, Pinnock was the driving force behind a sturdy Rovers defence. His performances helped in gaining promotion to the Football League for the first time in FGR’s history where he played 43 matches in both League and Cup scoring three goals.

Pinnock came through the youth ranks at boyhood club Dulwich Hamlet, where he starred and helped the team to an incredible run, reaching the third round of the FA Youth Cup. It was clear from this that Pinnock was ready for first team football and he was thrust into the senior team’s starting line-up at the age of just 16.

Pinnock was awarded Player of the Year at Dulwich as a reward for his fine early career, before being snapped up by Forest Green Rovers. The Reds have now moved quickly to secure the services of the central defender, further strengthening the squad and defensive line.

Following another extensive recruitment process from the Club, Paul Heckingbottom gave his thoughts and stated how pleased he was to continue bringing players to Oakwell before pre-season training commences.

Heckingbottom said, “We’re all really pleased to welcome Ethan to the Club. He joins us following promotion with Forest Green, so he is on a real high and now takes the next step in his career. This is exactly what we want at this football club, young and hungry players who are constantly wanting to improve themselves and further their career at Barnsley. He joins a talented group and I am pleased to get another deal done.”

Upon signing for the Reds, Pinnock spoke exclusively to iFollow Barnsley and expressed his delight at getting the deal over the line.

Pinnock said, “I am delighted to get the deal done. I am really looking forward to getting started and meeting all the boys. It’s all done now and I can concentrate on getting going for next season. I know we have a young side and I really like the way the manager wants to play. This is a Club that will help you progress as a player.

“I would also like to thank my old manager Mark Cooper for trusting me week-in-week-out to play, as well as coaching me and helping me develop as a player, to get me to the next level.”
