U18s captain agrees his first professional deal with the Reds.
18-year-old Adam Lund has today signed his first professional contract with Barnsley Football Club. The central defender has been continually impressive since joining the academy set-up, and his performances throughout the 2016/17 season quickly propelled him into the U23s side.
A strong and physical central defender, Adam is comfortable with both feet and has a keen eye for a spectacular goal with multiple efforts this season catching the eye of the fans who regularly watch the academy matches.
We are pleased that Adam has committed his immediate future to the Reds and we look forward to seeing his development continue with the Club.
Upon signing his deal at Oakwell today, Adam said, “I am really proud to sign for Barnsley and stay here. Having been from the local area it’s a great moment for my family and friends as well that I can remain at a Club I think so much of. I’ve had a long chat with all the coaching staff who have given me so much help to get to this stage, so now I know it’s all about working hard to continue that and getting into the first team.”
Academy Manager Bobby Hassell said, “Lundy is a great lad and has shown the right attitude as well as footballing ability. He has received high praise throughout the Club and deserves this contract. He needs to make sure now that he kicks on and keeps working hard, listening to the coaches and improving his game further.”
