Shannon prepares for her big fundraising weekend!

28 July 2017

Reds fan Shannon Jones is set to raise money this weekend for a charity close to her heart.

Shannon's mum was diagnosed with cancer late last year and has been undergoing treatment at Weston Park Cancer Hospital following chemotherapy and massive surgery.

As everyone connected to the Club is aware, Club custodian, Patrick Cryne was himself diagnosed with the same disease last year and so Shannon decided to jump 15,000 feet from a plane! Yes, she'll be doing a Sky Dive tomorrow morning from Hibaldstow Airfield in Brigg- it's the biggest jump in the country!

She is raising money for Weston Park Cancer Charity and will be jumping from the plane wearing a purple Weston Park t-shirt with the name of her mum and Patrick on front and back.

Barnsley Football Club announced a Charity Partnership with Weston Park earlier this year and we are delighted to support Shannon and the charity in everything she has planned this weekend.

Because it isn't just tomorrow and a 15,000 dive into the sky. No, Shannon has also arranged a charity football match to be held at Sheerien Park this Sunday, the home of Athersley Recreation. There'll be a bouncy castle, face-painting, ice cream and all manner of food and drink at the venue and one or two Barnsley players may well be in attendance to give their support to Shannon and Weston Park Cancer Charity!

Please visit Shannon's JustGiving page HERE for further information and to donate to this terrific cause.
