U18s | PREVIEW: Barnsley vs Huddersfield Town!

27 January 2017

Reds out to end seven game winless run against the Terriers.

Chris Howarth and Martin Devaney's Barnsley Under 18s are looking to get their first win of 2017 with a a victory at home to Huddersfield Town tomorrow morning.

The Reds have not picked up a victory in all competitions since beating the Terriers at PPG Canalside back in November, when Louis Rowe netted all four goals in a 4-2 win for the Reds.

Only three stoppage time goals from Birmingham City last weekend prevented the Reds from ending their unwanted winless run, but they will hope to set the record straight against their Yorkshire rivals.

Barnsley have only lost four of their ten home Professional Development League games this season, but have not picked up a victory at Oakwell since beating Birmingham City 3-2 in late October.

The Reds' 4-2 win over the Terriers was their first against the same opposition since February 2014 having lost the previous four meetings, but all only by a one-goal margin.

Barnsley have beaten Huddersfield only once at Oakwell since the Professional Development League was set up, that came in a 3-0 win back in February 2012.

Howarth and Devaney's side could jump above Hull City and into seventh position in the Northern section of the table with a victory.

The Terriers arrive third in the Professional Development League table but have won only three of their last six matches in all competitions and have also lost two of their last four games on the road.

They are however on a four-game unbeaten league run, winning three and conceding just one goal along the way.

Only the top four teams in the division have scored more goals than Barnsley in the league this season while only Sheffield United have conceded fewer goals than Town.

There has not been a goalless games between the two sides at Under 18 level in the league, with 36 goals scored between the to sides in the previous nine meetings.

Kick off for tomorrow's game is at 11am on the Oakwell Training Pitch and entry is free for all spectators.
