U18s | PREVIEW: Barnsley vs Bolton Wanderers

6 January 2017

Chris Howarth and Martin Devaney's academy side take on Bolton Wanderers tomorrow at Oakwell.

Barnsley Under 18s return to action in the Professional Development League tomorrow morning against Bolton Wanderers at Oakwell training pitch.

Chris Howarth and Martin Devaney’s side are hoping to bring their five game winless run in all competitions to an end with a victory against the Trotters.

Barnsley come into the game sitting seventh in the Professional Development League table with 22 points to their name from 17 matches.

Both sides played out a 1-1 draw when they met in October as a late Reds equaliser ensured they escaped from Lancashire with a point.

That result helped extend the Reds’ unbeaten run to three games and they carried on their excellent form until November, when they fell to defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Victory for the Reds will keep them seventh in the table and could move them to within a point of sixth placed Huddersfield Town.

Bolton by comparison will arrive in South Yorkshire with a five game unbeaten run to their name and have only tasted defeat once in their last seven matches.

That run has helped them up to fifth in the table, four points behind the league leaders Sheffield United, and no team has lost fewer games than the Trotters so far this season.

Bolton's away form however will give the Reds hope as they have only managed one win in their last seven matches on the road.

The Reds have not lost any of their last three matches against the Trotters, winning both at home and away when the two sides locked horns last season.

Kick off for tomorrow’s fixture is at 11.30am on the Oakwell Training Pitch with free entry for all spectators.
