This season we have been contacting Reds fans from overseas and getting their stories about being 'Reds Abroad'...
We caught up with Perry Wild who is a Red Abroad in Vietnam!
"I am a lifetime Red from a family of Barnsley fans. Born and raised in Wombwell, I am now living 6,000 miles away in Vietnam as a Director of Sport in a British International School.
"Being a Reds fan at the other side of the world is not easy. I try to get back a couple of times a year and when I do we always go to the games as a family; even dragging along my Swedish girlfriend who has no interest in football whatsoever! The last few games I have been forcing her to attend though, not because I want her there but because whenever she goes we seem to win! We were at the Coventry friendly in pre-season and it was great to see the team playing some good football again, live in person.
"Missing out on the Wembley trips these last few years has been a nightmare! I can’t lie. I have been jealous of the days out that my family and friends were able to enjoy whilst I was trying to convince a 70-year-old Vietnamese man the importance of a JPT final; or begging the owner of a sports bar in Hanoi to stay open beyond closing time to watch the playoff final at our second home, Oakwell South.
"I have seen every kick of the last two seasons on the Reds website in the days following the games with the Full Match Replays a Godsend, or I’ve dragged the boys to a seedy cafe to watch the games on TV at 3 in the morning!
"I’m actually moving to Sweden next year so hoping to get back to a few more games. If not I will be ruining my partner's Saturday watching them LIVE on iFollow! Youuu Reds!"
