Paul Heckingbottom's thoughts ahead of Brentford trip

15 December 2017

The Reds Gaffer previewed this weekend's Sky Bet Championship clash at Griffin Park.

The Reds head to West London for their latest league fixture to take on an in-form Bees side.

After a difficult start to the season, Dean Smith has his team playing some good football and they now sit 13th in the table ahead of play on Saturday.

Heckingbottom feels this will be another tough test for his young charges.

"They're a very good team," he told us.

"They are in a rich vein of form right now, but even at the start of the season where you'd look at their results and probably think they were struggling, in fact if you looked at those games, the performances and the stats were clearly showing it wouldn't take long, nor take much for them to turn it around.

"Lots of things were going against them in that spell.

"But they're in good form now and things are going for them, they have a way of playing that they don't ever change. They're a real good side.

"Brentford, for a very long time has been a tough place to visit and I expect Saturday to be no different.

"I look back to last year when we went down there and we were in a similar run then, was it seven or eight games without a win or something? And we went there and Bradders (Tom Bradshaw) got injured the day before and other things were going wrong, but we put in a really strong performance.

"We are wanting the same sort of thing again, the same sort of clinical performance and hopefully kick on like we did after that game last season."
