Hedges: "We've got to put it right, starting Tuesday."

5 August 2017

The Reds winger was speaking after scoring his first goal for the Reds in today's opening day defeat at Bristol City.

Introduced as a second half substitute, Ryan Hedges' performance was one of the few bright spots this afternoon, with the winger scoring his first Barnsley goal, albeit a mere consolation after a disappointing start to the 2017/18 season as the Reds fell 3-1 at Ashton Gate.

With injuries hampering his time at the Club so far, it was obviously a proud moment getting the goal, but the Welshman is in no doubt that the Reds need to improve, and quickly.

"On a personal note I'm over the moon to get my first goal for Barnsley. But I wish it had come under better circumstances. It's nice though to finally get off the mark and hopefully there's more to come.

"But it was a poor first half performance. And it's up to us as a team to put that right and start on Tuesday, because the games are going to come thick and fast.

"Today will act as a learning curve for many of the players, because so many are new to the division, but we all know there's much more to come from us. From my perspective I just want to play football now after a really bad injury and keep performing and keep scoring goals."
